Vaxšuvarda or Huxšaθra

[edit]

As mentioned in Iranica , the Old Iranian name maybe Huxšaθra ; some thing alike the Old Iranian name of Cyaxares (Uvaxštra):

OXYATHRES, Persian masculine name, attested only in this Greek form Oxyáthrēs, which in all probability is transformed by popular etymology (just as Oxyártēs, q.v.) from OIr. *Huxšaθra- [rendered as Gk. Oxáthrēs, which can only be interpreted out of Iranian material] ‘Of good reign’

Clarification for Bessus

[edit]

You state in the article "and subsequently devolved upon him the task of punishing his son Bessus for the murder of Darius'. Is Bessus the son of Alexander the Great or Oxyathres? The article on Bessus says his background is unknown.

Thanks for the clarification
